Brief analysis of film posters

Here I have analysed three more film posters to see what the main codes and conventions of film posters are and to see what film posters of the horror genre include:

The Eye:

This poster doesn't use the typical colours of a horror film poster e.g red and black. However it is still effective as the genre of the film is clearly shown through the hand coming out of the eye. The colour white could also indicate that this person is the victim as this colour is associated with innocence.

Final Destination:

This poster clearly shows the genre of the film through the picture and the colours used. It uses dark colours and red is used to show the release date of the film. As this is a teaser poster, only the month of the release date is shown.

Friday The 13th:

This poster is a typical horror film poster as it uses a dark colour scheme. The background is black which is a convention of the horror genre and it uses bold red writing which connotates blood and danger.
