The title is shown at the top of the magazine, where it is usually found. The usual colour of the title is white. However, because the background is white, the title has been changed to red so it stands out better. This is also a connotation for blood as the feature film is a horror film. The main picture covers the “L” of the word film slightly, however it is still recognizable what it says.
The main picture takes up the whole magazine so it stands out. It is of the actress Megan Fox that is in the new released film “Jennifer’s Body”. The picture is a long shot of her and the rest of the magazine is white. She has got blood on her hands, which reflects the horror genre of the film. This would attract people to buy the magazine if they liked this actress or this film that she is in. It does not say the name of the film in bold writing, however, people who know what the latest releases are would know what film is being advertised.
Next to the main picture, in a blue box, it says “A ton of exclusives” which suggests that the consumer will not be able to find this information anywhere else. Under this title there is a list of the exclusive stories that are in the magazine in a black font. However, where it says “The deadly Megan Fox’, this is in red to make it stand out from the rest of the articles as it is the featured film on this front cover. Under this, it says how many more stories there are in the magazine. There are 94 stories which show there is a lot to read in this magazine.
In the bottom left hand corner, there is a quote in a bold black font so that it stands out against the white background. It is a quote from Megan Fox as underneath it, it says what she will be talking about in the magazine, including her latest film Jennifer’s Body. This is highlighted in red, which advertises the film and also connotates blood as this film is a horror film.
At the side of the magazine, there is a large grey arrow pointing towards the main picture. Inside it, it says “The Future 100” in a blue font. Under it, it says “Everything that matters over the next 12 months”. This shows that inside the magazine, it will be talking about films that will be released in the next year and anything else that will be happening that is linked with films. This would appeal to people who like films and want to know more about them.
In the bottom right corner of the magazine, it says “plus” in a bold red font all in capitals which keeps to the colour scheme of the magazine. Under this, there is a list of other articles that are in the magazine like film reviews, what’s at the cinema and what has come out on DVD. This writing is in black and in front of it, the number of reviews there are is in grey. There are 128 reviews and a large number of other releases, therefore showing that there are a lot of articles in the magazine and that it does not miss anything out.
The date, issue, price and the website of the magazine are placed in between the “M” on the title on the magazine. This is written in a smaller font, as the information is not as important, however it is still noticeable.
At the top of the magazine, it says, “Our biggest preview ever” in a bold blue and silver font. This shows that this magazine should be bought as it has got a better preview than previous magazines, showing more films that will be released soon. Next to the writing, there are three pictures of new films that are not yet released which are Tron Legacy, Iron Man 2 and Inception . On the pictures, it says the titles of the films, which will make the consumer want to buy it if they are interested in these films and want to know more information about them.
The barcode is placed at the bottom of the magazine, which is a common convention of all magazines. It has also got the publishers logo next to it to advertise their publisher. However on this front cover it is lying at the bottom of the magazine to even things out so the writing is not overlapping, whereas it is usually placed up the side of the magazine.
